  1. Nice shoe but I also have a longer second toe. I agree a second shoe type needs to be developed.

  3. I have barely touched any other shoes since I received my five fingers. For me, it’s actually better than going barefoot because the shoes spreads your toes a little. It is taking some time for me to get used to them, but my body and muscles in my feet are adjusting. I can imagine that I will buy a pair of the slip on style soon so that I can wear them everywhere!

  4. I have a longer second toe and ordered the size that was supposed to be for my “longest toe” and it fit just fine. Worked out in them at crossfit the same night doing box jumps, olympic lifts, etc… and it felt AMAZING! I never want to take them off :) Definitely worth at least trying out and won’t be great for everyone… I was VERY skeptical at first being a physical therapist, but I love them.

  5. I am male, but I ended up purchasing the Vibram Five Fingers KSO for women after trying them on at the store.

I measured my own foot with a ruler and according to the web charts I should be wearing a Men’s 41. I went to my local sport store and asked to try the shoes on. I found that the Men’s shoe was a little short in terms of length and a little too wide for my foot. After trying several different pairs on, the Women’s KSO 42 fit my foot the best. Even different styles of the same size (the KSO vs the Sprint vs the Classic) fit slightly differently on my foot. For this reason, I must stress the importance of trying the shoes on yourself before buying them.

Once you find the right size, these shoes will really change the way you walk and run. The first few weeks you wear them, it will feel awkward and your calves will burn. The shoes force you to land on the balls of your feet, which at first feels like you’re walking on your toes. This also adds a bit of bounce to your stride. But running this way takes advantage of your body’s own shock absorber – the arch of your foot – instead of depending on padding in a shoe. You can find plenty of other reviews that will tell you how barefoot running has rid them of plantar fasciitis and other leg problems.

I also highly recommend Injinji toe socks to go with them. They will keep your feet warm while wearing the shoes, but are thin enough so you don’t need to find a new shoe size.
